Tomy Toy Power Conversion

TOMY TOYS are marvelous examples of precision engineering and manufacturing. The little windup clock mechanisms are sturdy and reliable, and they can be adapted to our technical requirements. The conversion show here-for fuel shutoff on Power models-is lightweight, consistent, and fairly easy to make. The timer can be used for flood-off or pinch-off setups. Not all of the Tomy toys have the proper clock mechanism. The one that we want has an escapement that controls the unwinding rate. Some of the smaller, simpler toys do not use an escapement; the larger, more complex toys usually do. The only way to really know whether it is the type we want is to dismantle the mechanism from the toy and look for the escapement. Another way is to wind up the dismantled mechanism and release it; if it goes zzzt and immediately unwinds, it does not have an escapement.
