"SPOOK HILLS" sounds more like the forbidding setting of an Edgar Allen Poe story than the scene of a world-class RC Scale contest, but such is not the case. This site, perhaps the best purely model flying field this writer has seen, was built in beautiful desert surroundings in Mesa, AZ (near Phoenix) by the Arizona Model Association. The association was host to the 1985 Scale Masters held October 18-20. Running the meet was the One-Eighth Air Force. This group's long experience at handling high-attendance fly-ins qualified them to take the Scale Masters in stride.
