Norfolk Aeromodelers' Program for Success
"LOCAL HOBBY CLUB'S weekly dogfight grounded by airport's parking plans"-That journalistic "grabber" accurately caught our Norfolk Aeromodeler Club's plight-as far as it went. Our 30-member club had lost its weekend flying site-complete with Control Line circles-to Norfolk International Airport's plans for a temporary parking lot. But our local paper's headline-and the brusque story it accompanied-held little hint of the prolonged quest for a new place to fly that our club was to face-or of the lessons that struggle taught us. Fifteen months after our club members first met with the Norfolk city planners, we were still looking for a new site.
