Bear Over Muncie

Bear in mind that multiengine projects always get attention at the flying field. But when a rarely modeled Axis bomber with four engines and counter-rotating propellers turns down the centerline of the crosswind runway at the International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana, crowds stand still.

At the beginning of this year's RC Scale Nats, builder George Maiorana's Tupolev Tu-95MS Bear had yet to be flown. With the weather right and pilot David Pinegar more than willing, the Tu-95's MaxCim motors were opened up and the gear was cycled in flight. The event was rewarding and inspirational. Then the team flew again and performed demonstration flights throughout the weekend.
