Returning to the RC marketplace
is the OV-10 Bronco, first of the
“Prestige Series” offerings from
ScaleTech and distributed
exclusively by Hobby Hangar.
Developed from the original design
by Rich Uravitch, this ARF has been
thoroughly flight-tested to ensure a
high degree of success for the firsttime
multi-engine, sport-scale RC
flier. Its compact size makes it easy
to transport, even fully assembled.
The Bronco package comes
complete with all required hardware
including engine mounts, fuel tanks,
wheels, spinners, and control
linkages. All airframe components
are expertly precovered with iron-on
film, and the canopy framing, as well
as the cowlings, are prepainted to
match the film covering. A complete
set of self-adhesive markings is
provided to represent a colorful
Bronco that served with the U.S.
Navy at the PAX River Naval Air
Test Facility.
This 52-inch model is designed
for glow power of roughly .25 cu. in.
displacement, but it’s easily
converted to electric power. A
removable cockpit/canopy hatch
arrangement allows complete access
to batteries and electronic
components. An optional cockpit
dress-up kit is also available for
additional realism.
Following the photo-illustrated
instructions, assembly of the kit,
including radio and engine
installation, takes only approximately
10 hours. The model is provided with
a rugged, fixed-gear arrangement,
but a retrofit kit to incorporate airoperated
retracts is available.
Vintage Style Spoked Wheels @
$16.99-18.99 + S&H from Maxford
USA, 15247 Texaco Ave., Paramount
CA 90723; Tel.: (562) 529-3988; Web
site: www.maxfordusa.com.
The 2.5- and 3-inch Vintage
Wheels are made of carbon-fiber
spokes, wood rims, and foam tires.
The hubs are metal tubing for
durability.
The components produce a very
lightweight, strong wheel capable of
supporting the 40-inch Albatros, 38-
inch and 50-inch Jenny, and other
models in that size range. The tires
are preassembled and painted black,
so they are ready to use right out of
the package.
DeNight Special 50 ARF @ $224.99
+ S&H from Horizon Hobby Inc.,
4105 Fieldstone Rd., Champaign
IL 61822; Tel.: (800) 338-4639; Web
site: www.hangar-9.com.
During the 1950s and ’60s, Bart
DeNight’s one-of-a-kind Formula 1
speedster was a force to be
reckoned with on the full-scale airracing
circuit. Hangar 9 has
wonderfully captured the look and
feel of the DeNight Special with this
exciting sport-scale ARF.
Designed to accept a wide range
of glow and electric power plants,
the DeNight Special ARF will give
you all the speed and thrills you
would expect from a scale-looking
air racer without any of the tricky
flight characteristics. Assembly takes
just a few evenings, and most of the
details, such as the authentic trim
scheme and painted pilot figure, are
already added for you.
The DeNight Special has a
wingspan of 58.5 inches and a wing
area of 626 square inches. Flying
weight, depending on equipment, is
6.25 to 7 pounds.
RCGF 100cc Gas Engine @
$699.95 + S&H from BP Hobbies,
140 Ethel Rd. W. Suite J,
Piscataway NJ 08854; Tel.: (732)
287-3933; Web site: www.bp
hobbies.com.
BP Hobbies is now a US
distributor for RCGF RC gas
engines made by Zhejiang RCGF
Model and Engine Company. These
powerful gas engines are known
worldwide for their high quality,
power, and customer support.
The engines range in size from
20cc all the way up to a 150cc twin.
All engines come with prop adapter,
muffler, motor standoff, spark plug,
electronic CDI ignition, and oneyear
manufacturer’s warranty.
Whether you fly IMAA, IMAC,
Scale, or are a weekend warrior,
RCGF has an engine to fit your
needs. RCGF engines start easily,
run strong, and offer great fuel
economy, all at a price that’s far
less costly than its glow-engine
equivalent. From 60-size to 40%
aircraft, RCGF has your power plant
covered.
The 100cc gas engine has a
maximum output of 9.6 horsepower
and weighs 92 ounces including the
ignition and muffler. The
recommended propeller is a 27 x 10.
The new 40-inch-wingspan A-10
includes two 75mm ducted fans
with two outrunner brushless
motors and two 18-amp controllers.
Power is supplied by a three-cell,
2200 mAh Li-Poly battery that is
easily accessed under the
removable canopy. A balancing
charger is also included in the kit.
The aircraft comes out of the
box all prepainted and decorated
injection-molded foam. Assembly is
quick; the wing halves need to be
glued together and the motor
nacelles glued to the fuselage
(fans and motors are preinstalled).
Motors must be plugged into the
speed controls and the direction of
rotation checked; no soldering is
required. All servos are
preinstalled and all control
surfaces are prehinged. The wing
is removable and reinforced with a
carbon rod. The two fan units
produce strong thrust at a
moderate speed and low amp
draw.
The wide stance of the tricycle
landing gear gives the A-10 great
ground handling for taxiing and
takeoff and superior control in
landing. Flying the A-10 is where
the fun really starts. The steering is
precise and not overly sensitive,
giving you great control on the
takeoff.
Once in the air, the climb is
strong and the control is smooth
and quick. Big loops, fast or slow
rolls, and inverted flight are easily
done. Flight times of up to eight
minutes are possible. Landings
are best accomplished with a
small amount of throttle for a
smooth approach.

BVM O-Clips @ $15.95 + S&H
from BVM Inc., 3481 SR 419,
Winter Springs FL 32708; Tel.:
(407) 327-6333; Web site:
www.bvmjets.com.
There are a number of devices
on the RC market that help
organize the installation of
electronic and pneumatic lines in
your model. The “O-Clip” system
will add a new dimension to the
task.
The “O-Clip” system is
nonspecific in regards to tubing
diameter or wire size and allows
grouping these components where
it is convenient. Each package
contains four each of three sizes
of “O-Clips”; the appropriate size
“O” rings (a few extra of each) and
two rolled strips of 1/64 x 1/2 x 12
plywood. This group of 12 is
sufficient for most medium-size
models.
