FROM THE CRAZY MOUNTAIN Flyers
club in Clyde Park, Montana, comes this
report submitted by club secretary Robert
Taylor.
“At the foot of the majestic Rocky
Mountains, the Crazy Mountain Flyers held
its 14th Annual Fly-In. The mowed-grass
airfield, located in Park County, Montana,
plays host to avid RC pilots and to aviators
of full-scale antique aircraft.
“It is a win-win having the Montana
Antique Aircraft Association share the
runway early Saturday morning. The
Association members put on a catered
breakfast and all of the pilots and family
members enjoy visiting and sharing their
passion for flying—both from the ground
and in the air.
“This year 30 airplanes landed on the
strip starting at 6:30 in the morning.
“The Crazy Mountain Flyers also played
host to local Cub Scout Pack 555. All of the
Scouts were given an AMA Cub model to
build and fly. They were also given the
opportunity to fly Radio Control aircraft
using the buddy-box system for some handson
experience.
“Each of the Scouts who participated
during the fly-in received a Cub Scout flying
patch.”
Newsletter editor Bob Taylor (center) and
Cub Scout Leader Rusty Collyer (R)
instructed the Scouts on flying the AMA
Cubs they built.
Cub Scout Leaders Nancy and Rusty Collyer
oversaw the construction of the AMA Cubs.
CD Dennis Rollins (L) and Steve Garr tune up
a 90-inch Roadrunner while other pilots
watch.
Breakfast is served on the grass airstrip
during the Crazy Mountain Flyers event.

Montana Antique Aircraft Association that
landed at the field during the Crazy
Mountain Flyers gathering.
The wind sock held by Dale Galand, is in
honor of Donald Herington who passed away
two years ago. Don devoted many hours to
assisting fellow RC pilots as well as teaching
young modelers to fly.
