WHERE DID the summer go? There were
many days that I was thinking spring or fall
instead of 90-plus degrees in the sun.
There was a time when I, as many of you
out there, would relish that kind of weather
to go out to fly your favorite model. Not for
me any more, sweat in the eyes is not
pleasant when trying to keep your eyes on
your airplane. But think of it this way as
you’re reading this column. It already is
getting cooler and before too long the leaves
will be turning and we will be thing about
those warm days of summer.
So to give you something to remember
during those cold winter nights just look at
the accompanying pictures.

the half boat half plane
actually flies.
The Black Hawk R/C Pilots in Waterloo, Iowa,
show what they do on a warm summer July
afternoon. The club was holding its club floatfly
with pilots coming from Cedar Rapids and
Iowa City as well.
Dick Groth says the breeze was light, out of
the south, and the pop was cold to drown the
thirst from all the hangar talk going on.
Till the next time, fly safely, have fun, and
don’t forget to take a youngster to the field.
