THE AMA Radio Active Airshows team
flies most Friday nights in a gym when
available. These events fill in during the
winter off season and keep the members in
tune. This helps promote indoor and parktype
flying. I’m told they sometims fly until
3 a.m. Saturday mornings.
The event I attended was in Eden, North
Carolina, at a church facility. There sure was
plenty of flying with all types of models—
even helicopters. As someone said later,
“The pilots were from age 8 to 80.”
I especially liked to see the younger ones
flying and there were approximately 8-10 of
them.
The Triad Aero Modelers held its annual
March swap meet this year at the Davidson
County Fairgrounds in Lexington, North
Carolina. This is usually one of the last
meets of the season in this area.
As you can see by the
pictures, there was plenty to
buy and many customers
looking for bargains. This event
is one of the club’s moneymaking
projects to help meet
their expenses.
Several hobby shops and
vendors contributed door prizes
and there were many raffles
along with the 50-50 drawing
finale.
These swap meets are where
I get to meet a lot of modelers
and hear their views. Many
come from miles around so
some are there whom you do
not get to see anywhere else.
These meets are great places to
gather information.

Radio Active Airshows team an Award of Excellence from
AMA for their work and continued support of AMA.
