Prince
A royally good way to enjoy sport aerobatics
The late Dave Robelen designed many unique and fun RC models. His Prince is reminiscent of the early low-wing RC aerobatics (pattern) models of the 1960s. It incorporates many lightweight building techniques Dave learned from his experiences with electric-powered models.
Spanning 51 inches, the Prince is the perfect size for small .25–.32-size glow engines. It is also a natural for conversion to modern electric power.
Construction is straightforward and easy. The fuselage is built up from sheet balsa and formers, and the tail feathers are flat surfaces made from sheet balsa. The wing is a built-up type with a flat-bottom airfoil that is a cinch to construct on a level building board.
Although the Prince is not a full-blown pattern model, it is capable of performing most of the aerobatic schedule. It is a great choice for lunchtime or after-work flying sessions, because it can be transported in one piece in most of today's small cars.
